The Social Frameworks of Memory of Maurice Halbwachs, published originally in 1925, is finally translated in Turkish with the title of “Hafızanın Toplumsal Çerçeveleri”. Halbwachs, one of the most important sociologists of the Durkheimian school, had shown in this work that the present with its institutions and their contemporary needs is much more determinant than the past during the formation of individual and collective memory.
This book, that became a classic a long time ago, has been translated in Turkish language by Büşra Uçar, a student of the Department of Sociology of the Galatasaray University, and published by Heretik Publishing House which draws the attention with its recent publication in Turkish of a number of sociological classics.
